Bashundhara Kings make history!
Bangladesh entered professional football in 2006. One of the conditions for this is to have the club's own ground as the home which no club in Bangladesh has had for so long.
For the first time in the history of Bangladesh, Bashundhara Kings is going to organize a Premier League match on their own ground.
The decision to open Bashundhara Complex as the new venue was finalized at a meeting of the Professional League Committee at BFF Bhaban today. The 14 (currently 10,000) seater stadium in the Bashundhara residential area of Dhaka will be the home ground of the current champion Bashundhara.
Salam Murshedy, chairman of the professional league committee, told an official press conference after the meeting that the games would be played at a total of seven venues. Bashundhara Sports Complex with six venues outside Dhaka has been finalized.

In this case, not only Bangladesh, for the first time any club in South Asia is going to organize the highest level match of domestic football in the field owned by them. Neighboring Indian clubs have qualified for the AFC Champions League but have yet to build their own stadiums.
Bangalore FC, owned by JSW Group, is considered as one of the richest clubs in India. The team that has played two inter-regional finals in the AFC Cup also does not have its own stadium.
The largest league in South Asia is the Indian franchise ISL. The teams playing there have advanced in many aspects of modern football but have yet to build their own stadiums.
ISL clubs are selecting home venues by leasing stadiums in different provinces. As such, Bashundhara Kings is going to touch a big milestone by becoming the new team of Bangladesh.

The remaining six venues for the league, which will start on February 3, are Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi, Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Comilla, Birshreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj, Sheikh Moni Stadium in Gopalganj and Sheikh Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.
Abahani Limited will play in Sylhet, Mohammedan and Chittagong Abahani in Comilla, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi and Saif Sporting in Munshiganj, Muktijoddha in Gopalganj, Bangladesh Police Football Club in Rajshahi, North Baridhara and Rahmatganj in Tongi. The venue of the rest of the clubs will be decided on January 25.

আজ বাফুফে ভবনে পেশাদার লিগ কমিটির সভায় নতুন ভেন্যু হিসেবে বসুন্ধরা কমপ্লেক্সের আত্মপ্রকাশের সিদ্ধান্ত চূড়ান্ত হয়। ঢাকার বসুন্ধরা আবাসিক এলাকায় ১৪ (বর্তমানে ১০ হাজার) হাজার আসনবিশিষ্ট স্টেডিয়ামটি হবে বর্তমান চ্যাম্পিয়ন বসুন্ধরার ঘরের মাঠ।
সভা শেষে বিষয়টি আনুষ্ঠানিক সংবাদ সম্মেলনে জানিয়েছেন পেশাদার লিগ কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান সালাম মুর্শেদী, ‘এবার মোট সাতটি ভেন্যুতে খেলা হবে। ঢাকার বাইরে ছয়টি ভেন্যুর সঙ্গে বসুন্ধরা স্পোর্টস কমপ্লেক্সকে চূড়ান্ত করা হয়েছে।’

এ ক্ষেত্রে শুধু বাংলাদেশ নয়, দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার কোনো ক্লাব প্রথমবারের মতো নিজেদের মালিকানাধীন মাঠে আয়োজন করতে যাচ্ছে ঘরোয়া ফুটবলের সর্বোচ্চ পর্যায়ের ম্যাচ। প্রতিবেশী ভারতের ক্লাবগুলো এএফসি চ্যাম্পিয়নস লিগ খেলার যোগ্যতা অর্জন করলেও এখনো নিজস্ব স্টেডিয়াম গড়ে তুলতে পারেনি।
ভারতের অন্যতম শীর্ষ ধনী ক্লাব হিসেবে ধরা হয় জেএসডব্লিউ গ্রুপের মালিকানাধীন বেঙ্গালুরু এফসিকে। এএফসি কাপে দুবার আন্ত–আঞ্চলিক ফাইনাল খেলা দলটিরও নেই নিজস্ব স্টেডিয়াম।
দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার সবচেয়ে বড় লিগ ভারতের ফ্র্যাঞ্চাইজি আইএসএল। সেখানে খেলা দলগুলো আধুনিক ফুটবলের অনেক বিষয়ে এগিয়ে গেলেও এখনো নিজেদের স্টেডিয়াম তৈরি করতে পারেনি।
আইএসএলের ক্লাবগুলো হোম ভেন্যু নির্বাচন করছে বিভিন্ন প্রদেশের স্টেডিয়ামগুলো লিজ নিয়ে। সে হিসেবে বাংলাদেশের নতুন দল হয়ে বড় একটি মাইলফলক স্পর্শ করতে যাচ্ছে বসুন্ধরা কিংস।

আগামী ৩ ফেব্রুয়ারি শুরু হতে যাওয়া লিগের জন্য চূড়ান্ত হওয়া বাকি ছয় ভেন্যু টঙ্গীর শহীদ আহসানউল্লাহ মাস্টার স্টেডিয়াম, কুমিল্লার শহীদ ধীরেন্দ্রনাথ দত্ত স্টেডিয়াম, মুন্সিগঞ্জের বীরশ্রেষ্ঠ ফ্লাইট লেফটেন্যান্ট মতিউর রহমান স্টেডিয়াম, গোপালগঞ্জের শেখ মনি স্টেডিয়াম, রাজশাহী মুক্তিযুদ্ধ স্মৃতি স্টেডিয়াম ও সিলেট জেলা স্টেডিয়াম।
এর মধ্যে আবাহনী লিমিটেড খেলবে সিলেটে, কুমিল্লায় মোহামেডান ও চট্টগ্রাম আবাহনী, শেখ জামাল ধানমন্ডি ও সাইফ স্পোর্টিং মুন্সিগঞ্জে, গোপালগঞ্জে মুক্তিযোদ্ধা, বাংলাদেশ পুলিশ ফুটবল ক্লাব রাজশাহীতে, টঙ্গীতে উত্তর বারিধারা ও রহমতগঞ্জ। বাকি ক্লাবগুলো কে কোন ভেন্যুতে খেলবে, তা চূড়ান্ত হবে ২৫ জানুয়ারি।
